How to Play Chess Classic
Choose Your Challenge
Play by yourself against the computer to practice, or choose the two-player mode to play with a friend on the same screen.
Take Your Turn
White always goes first, then players take turns moving one piece at a time. Click a piece to see where it can go, then click the square to move it.
Capture Pieces
To take an opponent's piece, move your piece onto the square where their piece is sitting. This removes their piece from the board.
Use the Undo Button
Made a mistake? Click the Undo button to take back your last move. This is great for learning and fixing accidental clicks on Lipsync Games .
Win with Checkmate
Attack the enemy King so it cannot escape. If the King is trapped and has no safe moves, you win the game!
Moves of Chess Classic
Pawn
- Moves forward one square at a time. On its very first move, it can jump forward two squares. It captures enemy pieces by moving one square diagonally.
Rook
- Moves in straight lines - up, down, left, or right.
- It can go as many squares as it wants if the path is clear.
Knight
- Moves in an "L" shape (two squares one way, then one square to the side)
- It is the only piece that can jump over other pieces!
Bishop
- Moves only in diagonal lines (like an "X")
- Each bishop stays on its own color square for the whole game.
Queen
- The most powerful piece! She can move in any direction
- straight or diagonal for any distance.
King
- The most important piece to protect. He can move one square in any direction (up, down, side, or diagonal).
